Today the class started review for their final exam!
This booklet should be completed by the end of class next Monday - keep yourself motivated, on track and remember to ask for help :) The class learned about volume today and took notes on this in their journals. After, they calculated the volume of their 3D objects and handed them in. Lastly, they started the following pythag + surface area + volume review.
This review and your 3D shapes are due tomorrow! The class reviewed surface area together and wrote notes in their math journals on this. After, they were tasked with making a cylinder, triangular prism, rectangular prism, and cube, and calculating the surface area.
The class had their pythag quiz redo and then continued making 6 identical squares, 2 identical triangles, 2 identical circles, and 2 identical rectangles using a ruler. Once they were cut out the area and perimeter was calculated for each shape and a 3D cube was taped together out of the 6 identical squares.
The class had a Pythagorean theorem quiz and then we took some time to enter Pythag notes into our math journals. After, we reviewed and entered how to calculate the area and perimeter of circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles into our math journals. Then we started making 3D objects!
There will be a pythag quiz redo available tomorrow for anyone who wants! The class used their solving skills form last unit to solve for the missing side length of a right triangle and then completed questions 3-14 on page 104.
Please complete these questions for homework if you did not finish them in class! There will also be a Pythag quizzy during our double block - come prepared! Today we started learning about the Pythagorean theorem in small groups by exploring the squares on each side of a right triangle using sticky notes. Questions 4-12 on page 92 were completed. Please finish these questions for homework if you did not complete them in class. The class was given progress reports today for an update on Term 4 - please sign by a parent/guardian and return tomorrow! We reviewed the Rates, Ratios and Proportional Reasoning Practice Test and then reminded ourselves how to use a calculator with squares and square roots page 85 questions 9-16.
Please complete the above questions for homework! Have a great weekend :) The class started off with an attendance question and then did a quick review together. Next, the practice test was completed individually and open book style on page 72 questions 1-9 +11. After, we learned how to use Excel shortcuts, name a document properly, and email attachments vs. one drive links by playing Battleship!
If you were not here today please complete the practice test and bring it to class when you return! The class worked on questions 4-14 on page 67 today and a home work check will be done for rates, ratios and proportional reasoning on Thursday.
Come to class prepared for a quizzzy! Today the class reviewed rates and ratios and proportional reasoning was introduced.
Please complete all homework for a homework check tomorrow! The class learned about Rates today by doing some white boarding and then answering questions 4-15 on page 60.
Please do these questions for homework! The class learned about Ratios today by doing some group white boarding and then doing questions 5-11 + 2 words problems on page 51. Second block we did some community building games.
Please complete the questions for homework if you did not get them done in class today! The class reviewed their test from last class today. A progress report will be sent home next week!
Today was the solving and graphing test - I hope you all have a great weekend!
Today we started off with an attendance question and then went on a field trip with the science 8 class to the MMIWG2S REDress installation at the railway museum. Once we got back, we continued reviewing for the solving and graphing test on Friday by doing some group white boarding. The class completed the graphing quiz and then worked on the textbook questions from yesterday.
There will be a solving and linear relations test on Friday! Today was the last day to work on graphing pictures and then students worked on pg. 357 Q 7-11 and pg. 402 Q 1-11 - we will continue working on these tomorrow.
There will be a small graphing quiz tomorrow! The class discussed what a linear relation is and how they use patterns to solve for a table of values. After, the following textbook questions were worked on pg. 357 Q 7-14, 21+22. Then students worked on their graphing pictures.
Please complete the graphing picture and questions for homework if you did not get them done in class today! The class started with an attendance question and then we did some math journalling with examples of a table of values, a properly labeled graph, and x & y coordinates. The following textbook questions were completed pg. 337 Q 4-12 and pg. 348 Q 4-9 and then the students worked on a graphing picture outside in the sun.
There will be a homework check for these textbook questions tomorrow and please hand your graphing picture in when you are done it :) Today the class did some group white boarding and then worked on the second side of the worksheet from yesterday.
Please hand this worksheet in when you are done! Today the class had a quiz for solving (there will be one everyday this week!!) and then we worked on solving with decimals and fractions.
Please complete the first side of this sheet for homework if you did not get it done in class today! The class had the option to re attempt the quiz from yesterday and then continue working on the unit review. Near the end of class students were encouraged to play the iPad game again.
Please hand in your review on Monday! The class started off with an attendance question and then did a 'solving quizy' after, the students worked on the chapter review on page 400-401. After break, the class did some group white boarding and then had the option to either continue on with the review or play the solving game 'Dragon Box' on the iPads.
The review will be due on Monday! |
